Thoughts of a middle aged man…..17 March 2013

Brian and I were treated to a glorious sight tonight, after turning the sprinklers on in our front yard we were inundated by 150-200 white cockatoos, all keen for a drink and a bath. It was just like being back in the country, there were so many cockatoos in the Norfolk Island Pines over the road they looked like decorations on a Xmas tree, just one little problem, they make so much damn noise.

I’ve had a lazy day today, Brian spent most of the afternoon at work so I took the time to read my book, do some washing, catch up on the most recent episode of The Last Resort, and cooked a lovely evening meal. I don’t know what everyone else thinks but last week’s episode of The Last Resort was one of the most violent things I have ever seen on television, I was completely shocked by the storyline, but the acting was wonderful.

I remembered something today that my granddaughter Jade did yesterday that brought a smile to my dial. As we were taking her home she sat in the back seat of the car counting, she went very well until she hit thirty, it went like this, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, twenty-nine, and then…..twenty ten. She is so cute.

I have just come upstairs from watching Downton Abbey, one of my favourite television shows and tonight’s episode was no exception. During one of the ad breaks my thoughts went back to my last day in business in Clayton Bay, one of the most emotional days of my life. I hate it when my head does this to me, why can’t I just put it all behind me and get on with things.

Brian’s back is only mildly improved today, I am not sure how he will cope tomorrow as he has a day studying for his Diploma in Business Management. He simply can’t sit down all day, he has to get up every thirty minutes or so and move or he will be in an even worse state. Funny last week his specialist said he was pleased with how the last procedure went, I can’t see it myself, Brian is still in constant pain and can hardly walk at times, surely it must get better than this for him.

A busy week this week, starting with a late one tomorrow night. Goodnight for now and thank you for reading.
